Trane Team is Top Gun at first Pam Redfearn Holman Memorial Shoot

The field of contestants was fired up as the Pam Redfearn Holman Memorial Shoot set a record in money raised for the Wounded Warrior Project. Held October 19 at the Dallas Gun Club, the exciting event drew plenty of competitors: 14 teams comprised of vendors, customers and veterans and 3 teams of REDLEE/SCS employees, a huge increase over 2011. More than $20,000 was raised, which will greatly aid the Wounded Warrior Project in helping injured service members and their families when they return home from active duty.

REDLEE/SCS had held the event in previous years, but this is the first year that it was named for Pam Redfearn Holman, who was the guiding force behind REDLEE/SCS charity donations to the military and other causes before her death in 2011. Many of her initiatives focused on collecting and sending food, donations and supplies to soldiers overseas.

The teams competed in shooting clay targets for the highest score. Here are the results:

1st place team (score of 308): Trane Commercial Systems

2nd place team (score of 261): VFW Post 10545

3rd place team (score of 259): REDLEE/SCS Corporate

Last place team (“The Dead Ass Last Award”): Heritage Liners (score of 82)

3rd place (score of 12): Dawn Howard, Diversey

A lunch of hot dogs, burgers and chips was sponsored by Bugatti Restaurant in Dallas and cooked/served by volunteers from REDLEE/SCS. All in all, 28 volunteers were on hand.

“The enthusiasm among this year’s teams was amazing,” said Megan Redfearn, event organizer and SharePoint Manager. “One of our entrants, JDS Benefits, even shut down its office so employees could compete and volunteer.”

For an event that was held in honor or one of REDLEE/SCS’s fallen, the fact the shoot met and surpassed fundraising goals was a real triumph. “Everyone worked hard to help the shoot succeed,” states Megan. “We’re looking forward to an even bigger event next year!”
